Draegolaphtha is a substance that is distilled from the sticky tar that forms from the smoke of burned Draegolsclaw. It is a dark purple, oily liquid, that will slowly begin to glow when heated, and will glow an extremely bright purple when boiled. This liquid is essentially a super concentrated form of Draegolsclaw and is used as the solvent base for many dark elixirs and potions. The process for making Draegolaphtha is extremely inefficient and yields only small amounts. Large amounts of Draegolsclaw must be burned, the tars allowed to precipitate from the smoke, collected, boiled, and the vapors collected using a fractionating column and condenser. This labor-intensive process makes Draegolaphtha extremely rare and expensive; however, the power increase it provides to spells over normal Draegolsclaw makes it well worth the price.
