Rugnar

The Unstoppable Boulder and Lord of Carnage

“Let scholar big heads debate victory; I am mountain that crushes the line.”

Rugnar is the raw, unbridled fury of the battlefield—the divine embodiment of instinct, bloody triumph, and untamed physical power. He manifests as a colossal, battle-scarred Oruk of impossible proportion, his skin weathered like ancient granite and his tusks wrapped in bronze and iron bands. He wears heavy, battered pauldrons forged from mountain ore and carries a massive, pitted greataxe that has shattered armies and split landscapes. Where he moves, the air trembles with the thunderous rhythm of an impending landslide, and his roar can shatter shield walls from miles away. While terrible to behold, he tends to a warm, wise, almost childlike nature, always quick to laugh or to share a tale of battle while consuming and offering ale.

When the pantheon was young, the other deities—wary of Rugnar’s wild nature—challenged his bravery, questioning whether his raw power was matched by absolute, fearless resolve. Without a moment’s hesitation, Rugnar leaped from the divine plane, plunging through the clouds toward the fledgling world below. He struck the surface of Prismatia with such cataclysmic force that the earth shattered and buckled upward, carving deep chasms and raising the world’s very first mountain ranges. Rugnar rose from the crater laughing, having proved his boundless courage by literally shaping the geography of the mortal realm through sheer impact.

Though Rugnar possesses very little bookish intelligence or patience for complex tactics, he is profoundly, deeply wise. He understands the raw, fundamental truths of existence: survival, instinct, the weight of honor, and the nature of the earth itself. As the progenitor and first Oruk, he passed this rugged wisdom down to his children. His origin remains forever linked to Grainia, the War Priestess. Originally crafted as a single, mindless guardian to protect Freidite, their creator stumbled and broke their shared soul in two. While Grainia received the sharp, tactical mind, Rugnar inherited the pure, indomitable heart of war and protection. Their millennia-long, fiery love affair remains legendary, a violent harmony of opposing forces that sparked the birth of the first Draegols.

Rugnar is fervently worshiped by Oruk tribes, berserkers, mountaineers, gladiators, and athletes across Prismatia. His shrines are built on the highest, most treacherous mountain peaks, constructed from massive, unworked boulders piled by hand. His clergy—composed of tribal shamans, pit-fighters, and frontline champions—do not write sermons or debate doctrine. Instead, they honor Rugnar through feats of physical endurance, grand athletic games, brutal martial trials, and unwavering bravery. To face impossible odds with a laugh, to scale a mountain bare-handed, or to hold the line when all hope is lost is to earn the eternal respect of the God of Carnage.
